It&#8217;s about handling them in 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes. The bride doesn&#8217;t have time to ask a bridesmaid to &#8220;run to CVS&#8221; \u2014 and even if she did, that bridesmaid won&#8217;t be back in time. The kit is on-site, in a labeled bag, in the maid of honor&#8217;s hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Wardrobe Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tide-to-Go pen<\/strong> \u2014 for the inevitable spill on the dress.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sewing kit<\/strong> \u2014 needle, thread (white, black, and the bridesmaid dress color), small scissors, safety pins (assorted sizes).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Static guard<\/strong> \u2014 pantyhose, layered skirts, anything that clings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Double-sided fashion tape<\/strong> \u2014 keeps bodice in place, hems straight, ties looking sharp.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fashion clips \/ chip clips<\/strong> \u2014 for bustling a dress that loses its bustle.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extra bobby pins (lots)<\/strong> \u2014 black AND blonde colors depending on hair.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hair spray<\/strong> \u2014 Aerosol, not pump. Pump never lasts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hair ties<\/strong> \u2014 clear and elastic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extra earring backs<\/strong> \u2014 losing one is the most common bridal-jewelry crisis.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lint roller<\/strong> \u2014 black tuxedo + white dress + Florida = lint everywhere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mini ironing kit or wrinkle release spray<\/strong> \u2014 for the suits that got wrinkled in transport.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Spare pantyhose<\/strong> \u2014 runs happen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Boutonniere pins (extra)<\/strong> \u2014 they fall out constantly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Beauty Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lipstick (matching the bride&#8217;s)<\/strong> \u2014 for touch-ups before portraits and after dinner.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Powder compact<\/strong> \u2014 for shine control in humidity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Blotting papers<\/strong> \u2014 better than powder for mid-day shine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Q-tips and cotton swabs<\/strong> \u2014 fixing eyeliner smudges and mascara mishaps.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Makeup remover wipes<\/strong> \u2014 undoing a mistake without ruining everything.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hand lotion (small)<\/strong> \u2014 dry hands look harsh in close-up ring shots.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lip balm<\/strong> \u2014 wedding stress dries out lips fast.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eye drops<\/strong> \u2014 for everyone who cries, which is everyone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tissues (lots of soft ones)<\/strong> \u2014 for crying. Bring at least two travel packs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hand sanitizer<\/strong> \u2014 wedding day involves a lot of handshakes and hugs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tweezers<\/strong> \u2014 splinters happen, especially at beach weddings on weathered boardwalks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mini hairbrush<\/strong> \u2014 pocket-sized.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Medical Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ibuprofen and Tylenol<\/strong> \u2014 for hangovers, headaches, sore feet.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Antacids (Tums or Pepto)<\/strong> \u2014 wedding stress + champagne + light eating = upset stomachs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Band-aids (assorted, especially blister-type)<\/strong> \u2014 new shoes equal blisters by hour two.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moleskin or blister pads<\/strong> \u2014 for the bride&#8217;s feet in heels.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allergy medication (Benadryl, Claritin)<\/strong> \u2014 Florida pollen, especially in spring.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anti-nausea (Dramamine)<\/strong> \u2014 for nervous stomachs, plus useful for boat exits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deodorant (travel size, multiple)<\/strong> \u2014 at least 3.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mints and gum<\/strong> \u2014 for the post-bourbon kiss.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Floss<\/strong> \u2014 for the post-dinner photos.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bug spray (DEET-free for the dress)<\/strong> \u2014 Pensacola Beach evenings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sunscreen (mineral, won&#8217;t run)<\/strong> \u2014 outdoor ceremonies in summer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aloe<\/strong> \u2014 in case of sunburn from the rehearsal day before.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tampons \/ pads<\/strong> \u2014 for the bride and any bridesmaid who might need them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Practical Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Phone chargers (multiple types)<\/strong> \u2014 bridesmaids&#8217; phones die from photos.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extra cash ($100 in small bills)<\/strong> \u2014 tips, parking, emergency Uber.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pens (3+ ballpoint)<\/strong> \u2014 for last-minute timeline updates, marriage license signing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marriage license<\/strong> \u2014 yes, really. Put it in the kit. It&#8217;s been forgotten before.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Copy of the day-of timeline (printed)<\/strong> \u2014 Wi-Fi at beach venues is unreliable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vendor contact list (printed)<\/strong> \u2014 same reason.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Snacks (granola bars, trail mix)<\/strong> \u2014 for the bride who hasn&#8217;t eaten.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bottled water<\/strong> \u2014 multiple. Humidity is real.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Straws<\/strong> \u2014 drink water without ruining lipstick.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Small mirror<\/strong> \u2014 for last-minute check before walking down the aisle.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Krazy Glue or super glue<\/strong> \u2014 for broken shoe heels, popped jewelry settings, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mini scissors<\/strong> \u2014 separate from the sewing kit, for tags, stray threads.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clear nail polish<\/strong> \u2014 stops pantyhose runs, fixes chipped nails.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stain stick (white chalk)<\/strong> \u2014 emergency cover for dirt on the dress hem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Wedding-Day-Specific Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The rings<\/strong> \u2014 yes, this gets forgotten. Best man should have them on a string around his neck or in a specific zipped pocket.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The vows (printed)<\/strong> \u2014 phone batteries die.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wedding band cleaning cloth<\/strong> \u2014 for the ring exchange photo.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extra boutonnieres (2)<\/strong> \u2014 they break, get knocked off, get lost.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flat shoes for the reception<\/strong> \u2014 bride&#8217;s feet at hour 6 will thank you.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sun umbrellas or parasols<\/strong> \u2014 for guest portraits in midday sun (optional but nice).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clear ponchos<\/strong> \u2014 for rain-day photos that don&#8217;t ruin everyone&#8217;s outfits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Carries the Kit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The maid of honor. Always. Not the bride (she has enough to think about), not the bride&#8217;s mother (she&#8217;s emotional and forgetful), not the planner (the planner has their own kit but won&#8217;t be next to the bride every second).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MOH should have the kit in a labeled tote bag or backpack that&#8217;s with her \u2014 physically \u2014 from getting-ready through the end of the reception. If she steps onto the dance floor, the kit goes to the chair next to the bride&#8217;s mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Assemble It<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Buy a pre-made bridal emergency kit<\/strong> from Amazon. Look for ones with 70+ items. Cost: $30\u2013$60. Add a few personal items.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assemble your own.<\/strong> $40\u2013$80 of CVS\/Target runs, organized in a clear toiletry bag with multiple compartments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Either works. The DIY version lets you customize for skin type, color of bridesmaid dresses, dietary needs. The pre-made saves you 2 hours of shopping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We&#8217;ve Actually Used on Wedding Days<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our experience as photographers, the items pulled from emergency kits more than any others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Safety pins (boutonniere repairs, hem fixes)<\/li>\n<li>Lipstick (always)<\/li>\n<li>Tissues (always)<\/li>\n<li>Bobby pins (always)<\/li>\n<li>Tide pen (3 out of 4 weddings)<\/li>\n<li>Band-aids (every wedding)<\/li>\n<li>Mints (right before the kiss)<\/li>\n<li>Phone charger (every wedding)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rest is insurance. You won&#8217;t use most of it. But the one time you need a sewing kit, you really need a sewing kit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One Last Note<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your photographer also carries an emergency kit. We have a smaller version focused on the things <em>we<\/em> are most likely to need on your day: extra batteries, lens wipes, a backup memory card, gaffer tape, and yes \u2014 Tide-to-Go and safety pins.
